1. Accept That You Are Rad Just the Way You Are

"Well, I'd be joyous too with abs like that..." |
We all struggle with insecurities
when we put on our bathing suits. Why aren’t my
abs perfectly chiseled after the 50 crunches I did today? Why is it taking SO FREAKING LONG to lose
those extra pounds? It’s easy to start comparing yourself to the perfect
golden bods gleefully and shamelessly prancing along the beach. Chances are, though, the owners of those hot
bods have insecurities of their own. Don’t
worry about them. Just love where you
are now, even with the extra squish you might find here and there. Appreciate what you’ve accomplished instead
of wishing you were further along.
2. Drop the Guilt and Be Awesome Instead

"PIG! You will have nothing but celery for a week!" |
My first reaction the day after a
pizza-induced trance is to go into Catholic-Mortification-of-the-Flesh-mode.
I’m learning, however, that sometimes you
just have to eat pizza and move on. Because guilt and self-anger weigh us down
much more than a few delicious slices of cheesy goodness. It’s a fresh new day, and holding onto that
pizza is exactly what we don’t want to do.
3. Remember That We’re Here for the Long Haul

"What have I gotten myself into..." |
Goals are great. They help us set our intentions and give us
something to strive towards. But one of
the biggest mistakes is to think of our health as a goal we must attain. Many people try to “arrive” to the perfect
body with crash diets, burnout workouts, and obsessively checking the scale. Eat healthy, be happy, stay active, and in
time the rest will align. Healthy living
is a lifelong journey, not a goal to attain.
Let’s not deprive ourselves of joy until we arrive at our goals. Easier said than done. But seriously, do it.
